After been trying out the new camera for few days, pictures captured still sucks. “Polish I need the skill, FAST”. However, thanks to the accessible of information all over the World Wide Web, the fundamental of photographing are able to comprehend easily. A lot of knowledge was stolen from ‘Digital School of Photography’.
OK, back to G10. There are few points that I really like about this camera.
- The very rigid and comfortable gripping.
- Fast response staring up time (off to shoot 1 sec)
- Very sharp LCD viewing panel
- Deleting photos can be done by range of photos, by folder, by category etc.(Conventionally, we do this delete 1 by 1 which is damn stressful, especially when you actually run out of memory space.)
- The easy access menu interface(When in playback mode, once you press menu, it will bring you to playback mode setting and will be going in directly to shooting setting if you are in shooting mode.)
- Dial control for exposure compensation and ISO.
- Rotating control wheel. (I love this 1, one of the main feature that making me buying it)
- Setting customization pre-set in dial and also the frequent access menu setting. (Not say I know what to set now but eventually this will be helpful I believe.)
- A lot of post process can be made after shooting within the camera itself. Like a mini processing PC. Example, red eye elimination, video editing, stitching etc.
Of course, there will be some fallout as well. Nothing is perfect in this world right?
- It burns your pocket (almost cost the same with entry level DSLR)
- Weight approximately 350g (not really heavy but definitely will make you uncomfortable in your pocket)
- It comes with neck strap, I want wrist strap. Anyone can tell me where to get a nice strong wrist strap???
- Not really easy to shot in dim surrounding. (without flash I mean)
- Should have a bigger sensor size (I am asking too much? LOL)
On top of all those above, I come across two interesting pre-set scene mode.
1. Color accent mode – emphasize on object with the only color on the photo
2. Color swapping mode – it help changes the colour before pictures is take.
