During the Hari Raya long holiday break, I rejected the Tambun Lost World waterpark outing suggested by Suanie after road trip down South to Sinkapola (Singapore) failed. However, I did meet up with them in Tambun Penang instead for seafood dinner after their session in Tambun Ipoh. Both Tambun basically are approximately 130km apart.
It was been a while since I last had my meal in this famous seafood dining spot. We reached there rather early actually but the traffic and parking around that area was already insanely congested. Just look at the double and triple park just in front of restaurant Gee Seng. They do have people directing the parking and the traffic. To my surprise, they actually able to remember each and every driver who park their car there and eventually will locate you on your table asking you move it if someone’s car blocked by yours is going out. Amazingly unbelievable!

Space saving car park
Finding an empty table from total 30 – 45 tables wasn’t that hard since we arrived early. We were sitting on top of the river and again, due to arriving early, we were able to check out the surrounding before everything turns dark.

Suanie did the order and as usual, it ended up “fairly” excessive. There were spike clams, boiled octopus, crabs served in 2 styles, baked and sweet & spicy, chilli kangkung (vege) for some greens, house’s signature tofu and noodles. Personally, I think the cooking was good but not superb. One thing can be sure of was, the freshness of the seafood. With the daily crowd they have and being a fishing village by itself, how can you not be served with something extremely fresh?

I like the signature tofu the most. It was deep fried minced tofu with mixture of vege and meat. Crunchy on the outer layer, tender inside and fragrance was appetite arousing. HuaiBin lovesthe sweet & spicy crabs a lot which was kinda good but I think there are other places with more decent serving. There was this dish, oyster pancake ordered but I just don’t feel like showing it at all. You can easily find similar dish 10 times tastier than this in Penang. So just forget about it ok.

That’s what you do with the wood you saw up there with the baked crabs
I am not in position to judge Suanie here actually for over ordered. I felt there’s not enough seafood for the meal and I ordered giant mantis prawn for one each. That was the highlight dish of the night. We was told it cost RM100 for a kilo which normally consist of 3 mantis prawns. It didn’t took too long for this additional order to serve. Everyone was amazed by the size and I was lucky enough to choose the only prawn with egg in it. Yummy~

The bill showed RM 253.20 astounded us by a bit. Initially we thought there’s no way the bill going to be that cheap because 6 mantis prawns alone will cost something around RM200.00 already. Without delayed, we paid and left the place as soon as possible. (Who cares about morality pointing out they got the wrong total price? it’s only for you to bullshit in the exam only, hehe). However, eventually we found out there’s nothing wrong with the bill, the mantis prawns only cost us RM120 for 6 of them. Well, the price paid for such a meal was definitely overwhelming.
