Due to my job nature, I need to travel quite frequent. This year has been slow so far until lately. Yesterday was kind of tragic at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport, MAS check-in counter 5 refused to proceed with my check-in.
Lately, all my flight tickets purchases were done online and I normal don’t print out the itinerary details. I never came across any problem checking in with only my passport so far. Normally even at the worst, showing them the detail through my laptop and everything done. I did the same yesterday and the ground crew still refused to issue the boarding pass to me because I fail to show them the hardcopy of the detail itinerary. They insisted that I need to provide them the credit card of the purchase. It was done by company and the person who did it so coincidently was on leave and I tried few alternative way to get it but eventually failed.
So, I was stuck and request to talk to the lead officer in charge.
MH : Yes, how can I help you?
ME : I’m not able to get the CC number cos it was done by company and she’s not in and not able to reach. Is there any other way that I could proceed with the check-in since I have my passport and the email MAS sent to me. I have all my particular with me but not the CC number.
MH : I think there’s nothing we can do. We need the CC number as procedure and for your own good. The only thing you can do now is, to buy another ticket.
(deep down I was swearing, WTF for my own good, please tell me 3 reasons it will benefit me by proving I have the CC number? FTS)
ME : What? this is ridiculous. I’ve been travelling all these while and never encounter such incident before.
(There were more going on of course just to summaries it)
Just after that, my finance executive called and manage to give me the CC number from the bank statement she found. Finally, I was permitted with the boarding pass. Really FML especially it was on my birthday.
Now, MAS, please tell me that’s the procedure that you call it MH = Malaysian Hospitality. When we are trying to be more environmental friendly by reducing the usage of paper when we can do thing electronically and also because I couldn’t provide the credit card number which paid the ticket I was request to purchase new ticket? If this is the freaking procedure and why this only happened to me in Philippines and not China, HongKong, Singapore etc?

While on board, I was at 38D and the crew accidentally split some orange juice onto a guy at 37C and I didn’t hear any apologize and not even offer him with some napkins etc to clean up the mess. She just blardy walk away and finish up with her task (collecting empty cups). I was so disappointed with the service MAS offered now days. Also, I request for a cup of tea after the meal and that crew still owe me my cup of tea till now. What make it worst was my seat was crooked and I need to alter my sitting position to suit it. Lucky the journey only took 3.5 hours. That was basically how tragic it was during the 1st half of my birthday.
