Appointed as “Ahmad” (driver) last weekend. While waiting for my “Tauke” finish their Sammi’s concert, I had nice peaceful and relaxing moment under nice chilling weather while checking out crowd passing by on this sleepless entertainment city. When dinner time, craziness once again strikes. Walked around checking out outlets that will fill up my stomach, 99++ set for single promotional poster in front of AhYat Restaurant captured my sight. And yes, that’s dinner.

My view inside AhYat
1st course something to warm up your empty stomach. To be honest, I do support not eating shark fins as there’s too much unethical killing going on in order to satisfy our crave. However, when it comes in course or already served on table, I’ll just eat. Am I bad because of this?

2nd course also the main course of the set. Goose palm with Mexican abalone (I upgraded it with additional RM30) From all my pass experience with abalone, I always think that abalone is basically tasteless and the only thing that make it good is the awesomesauce instead. But this meal, replace the deceived perception with a new one now. I can actually tasted the sweetness and aroma from the abalone itself. Satisfying.

Main Course. Looks like potato actually
3rd course, Yam in the blanket. I guess many tried piggy in the blanket which is actually mini sausage covered with bacon. Here, stick of baked yam covered by a layer of roasted pork belly. The yam neutralize the strong BBQ sauce taste make it just perfect. Awesome.

Filling course, lotus bake rice filled up with prawns, dried scallops, dried shrimps, pork etc. It was not overly sticky and the lotus leaf’s fragrance is nicely soaked into the rice. It’s good but it can be better I think or just that I was almost full by then perhaps.

Dessert. Bird nest egg tart. the only complain on this…. tooooo small… it was delicious. yummmmm

This dinner put back the reputation on Ah Yat Abalone Restaurant after I tried them for a brunch which was kinda disappointing. This meal kinda weird actually. Its normal to have set dinner on Western but for Chinese, set meal for one person is kinda new to me actually. Perhaps I’m just so mountain that’s all.
