Last week was seriously one of the most eventful week for 2010. I took a day off on Tuesday and did my Diving Confined Water Training before 3 days of business trip to Singapore and Batam, Indonesia. Ruby who suppose to be my dive buddy cannot make it this round which ended up me doing the lesson all by myself.

It has been a while since last I did some swimming hence, the training almost killed me when my instructor Edvin asked me to swim 8 laps without fins as part of PADI’s requirement for new student. Lucky I was in wet suit which helps me float easier yet I was truly exhausted from this.

Basically, I was instill with knowledge on diving equipment, safety precautions and also the skills needed underwater in order for me to go in water alive and come back up breathing after dive. Well, I’m still alive to write these shit after my certification proof that I learned well during my training.

Confined Water Training at Cheras

In order to be certified as a licensed diver, on top of going through theory and confined water training, I need to do 4 real open water dives. This was the best part of the certification because it means HOLIDAY in PARADISE, Pulau Redang.

Pulau Redang, Malaysia

My 1st and 2nd dives was just a shore dive around 6 – 10m in depth lasted about 62mins. I was request to complete all the skills I learned during the confined water training here. I have no idea what I saw during my 1st dive because I was too busy showing my capability underwater with the skills I was taught and trying to breath as I was taught and worst was controlling my buoyancy not to crash into the corals and got killed by all the ocean lover later on.

2nd dives was like hell for god’s sake. After almost completed all the skills demonstration required except CESA (emergency technique to surface) I came across severe pain on both my ears from not able to equalize the pressure. Edvin tried guide me with several equalization method but none of them works. Dive aborted after 40mins of struggling underwater. 1st thing I did once I was back at the resort was throwing out . Puked out all the lunch I had before the dive, showered and went to bed passed out for 3 straight hours. Most likely I was over exhausted from the rush from the business trip I had and lack of sleep from the night drive.

Certification Dives

3rd and 4th final certification dives were 2 amazing diving spots by boat. We started as early as 8.30am to Tg. Tokong (North of Redang Island and not a place in Penang Island). After got sufficient rest, I can easily equalized and relax hence, can really enjoy the dive. There were so much to see and the feeling was much different from the 1st and 2nd dives.

After an hour of rest, Southern Tip was my 4th dive’s location and it was the best dive of this trip. The visibility was superb. Only later of the day I found out from the rest that this was also one of the best visibility dive they experienced. I bet I was just a lucky dude.

Some beautiful Corals

Completed all my certification dives before noon on the 2nd day and I was not really satisfy with only 4 dives, so I paid extra for my 1st leisure boat dive with the rest to Sharon Stone and accompany Kerol and Kim for their Discovery Dive at the shore which make it my 2nd leisure dive.

After completed certification dives, can take out regulator for pic dy

I’ve learned a lot regarding aqua life during this trip and sad to know global warming is causing the water to get warmer from day to day and corals are too sensitive to temperature changes hence there are many bleached corals easily seen everywhere.

I’m so glad I did the lesson and I’m now a certified PADI diver and surely hope to explore the underwater world more before everything turn snowy white. Ultimate diving targets are Sipadan and Maldives.
